Palffy Palace
Local name: Pálffyho palác
The Bratislava City Gallery is located in two palaces in the Old Town, Mirbach Palace and Palffy Palace. This is the second largest art collection in Slovakia. It presents paintings, sculptures and graphics of Slovak artists or originated in today's Slovakia, from the Middle Ages to modern times.
The gallery was separated in 1961 from the City Museum, which since the end of the 19th century has collected works of art from Slovakia. On the one hand, he makes his collections available, and on the other, he promotes Slovak art abroad. In two palaces in the Old Town, monuments of sacred art from the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, paintings and sculptures of Hungarian artists creating in Slovakia and works of Slovak artists are presented.
