Museum of Viticulture

Local name: Múzeum vinohradníctva

The Museum of Viticulture is located, just like the Museum of Historical Interiors in the Apponyi Palace. In the basements and on the ground floor of the Rococo building, original wine-making equipment and documents from the winemakers' guild were shown.

Wine production and the cultivation of grapevines have been an important area of the economy of Bratislava and the small Carpathians since the Middle Ages. Established in 2008, the Museum of Winery guides visitors through the history of production, reveals the secrets of wine making, and tells about the activities of local wine growers.

At the Museum you can see barrels, presses, dishes and other instruments used in the production of wine. Much attention was paid to the sparkling wine produced in Bratislava. The factories of JE Hubert and J. Palugyay in the nineteenth century drew on French models and were recognized European producers.
