Museum of Transport

Local name: Múzeum dopravy

The Transport Museum (Museum dopravy) in Bratislava is a branch of the Košice Technical Museum. It operates in the buildings of former railway warehouses and the adjacent track. The museum collects copies of old locomotives, cars, motorbikes and bicycles. You can see here prototype vehicles produced in Slovakia. There are also devices used to protect traffic and transport, signaling and public transport equipment.

The museum was created as a result of the activities of the Veteran Club Bratislava, which has been collecting old vehicles since the 1970s. The museum's rich collection is a journey through the development of communication techniques over the past 150 years. You can see steam, diesel and electric locomotives, wagons, draisines and track maintenance equipment. The vehicle department has collected bicycles, mopeds, motorbikes and cars. Many of them were produced in Slovakia and Czechoslovakia. There are, among others, the prototype microbus Tatra 603 B (the only one in the world) and the Skoda and Tatry rally cars from the mid-20th century.
