Museum of Historic Interiors
Local name: Múzeum historických interiérov
The Museum of Historical Interiors is located in the Apponyi Palace. On its floors there is an exhibition showing the transformation of middle-class houses in Bratislava in the 18th and 19th centuries. Original wall coverings and period paintings have been preserved here. The exhibition is complemented by furniture and knick knacks.
The rococo palace of Juraj Apponyi has been used since 1932 by the Bratislava City Museum. In the early 21st century, 18th and 19th century paintings were discovered on the walls of the rooms on the first and second floors. It became a contribution to setting up the Museum of Historical Interiors here.
The first floor was furnished as representative rooms of a noble house from the 18th century. Original wooden cladding covers the walls. On the upper floor, the appearance of a bourgeois house changed until the end of the 18th century until the end of the 19th century. You can see original furniture and handicrafts.
