The Zoological Garden in Bojnice is located in the vicinity of the Castle. It is the oldest zoo in Slovakia. They are inhabited by about 3,000 animals belonging to almost 300 species. In the zoo there are pavilions for insects, fish, reptiles and amphibians, as well as paddocks for numerous mammals. You can see elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes and a large collection of exotic butterflies.
The garden covers an area of 47 hectares. It is located on the slopes of the picturesque castle hill. Along with the castle is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Slovakia.
At the zoo, you can see animals from all corners of the earth. Aquariums and terrariums are located in pavilions, birds are presented mainly in aviaries, while mammals reign on the catwalks. There is a large population of animals from Africa and Asia that have adapted well to the local climate. A new butterfly mill has been opened in the zoo in recent years.
