The national circus was built in 1960-1961 according to the designs of N. Porumbescu, N. Pruncu and C. Ruleahe. It has the form of an amphitheater covered with a reinforced concrete dome based on slender pillars and glazed walls, reminiscent of the flowing fabric. The building was entered into the register of national monuments.
The main concert hall can seat 1850 spectators. In its center is a round arena with a diameter of 13 m, equipped with various mechanical devices. They allow, among others for the entry of animals directly from the cellar boxes. Above the entrance, where the artists enter the arena, there is a platform for the orchestra. Directly next to the dome are also installations used by the so-called flying artists.
An interesting fact is that in addition to standard shows and performances, the circus building hosts annual snooker competitions.
