The Museum of the First Romanian School is located in the courtyard of the Church of St. Nicholas in the historic district of Brasov, Șcheii Brașovului. In addition to exhibitions devoted to the activities of the school itself, you can see the first Romanian printing press here. Only 39 books were printed on it, including the first Romanian Bible and the first Romanian textbook.
It was the first school in modern Romania where classes were conducted in the national language. The history of its activity dates back to the second half of the 16th century, earlier it was used in teaching the Church Slavonic language. Initially, the school was attended by single representatives of individual villages who, after completing their education, returned to their homeland and passed on their knowledge on their own. The school operated until 1850.
