The Bârlad Zoo is located on the outskirts of the city and partly bordered by a forest. Over 540 animals representing 65 species live in it. They include bears, tigers, lions, jaguars, buffaloes and wisents. Here you can see numerous birds, alligators, snakes and lizards. There is also a large aquarium recreating the exotic Amazonian biotope. 18 species of fish are bred there.
