Praca de Lisboa is a city square in Porto revitalized according to the design of the Portuguese studio Balonas & Menano Architectural and Urban Concept. The modern body of the building that stood here is formed by three levels - a green roof overgrown with olive trees, usable space with commercial and service premises, and the lowest floor containing a parking lot. There is also a path through the center of the building that allows free pedestrian communication.
The Portuguese studio's design was to restore the square's former popularity and repair the deteriorating condition of the urban space in the center of Porto. The proposed solution is based on the assumption that a public square should be open to residents and attractive to the surroundings. The building is therefore both a city garden and a partially roofed shopping street. The concrete facade contrasts interestingly with the historic buildings around the square.
