The Serralves house is surrounded by the Serralves Park in the Serralves complex in the rural part of Porto. It is located in the former residence of Count Vizel - Carlos Alberto Cabral. The villa is considered a unique example of the classic "Art Deco" architecture in Portugal. This is the headquarters of the Serralves Foundation. Various exhibitions and various types of cultural events often take place at home.
The building was built in the 1930s according to the design of Charles Siclis, and its construction was supervised by Marques da Silva. Finally, work was completed in 1940. In 1987, the house became the property of the state, namely the Ministry of Culture. Since then, Dom Serralves has contributed to the promotion of culture, in particular knowledge of contemporary art.
