The church Nicholas (Igreja de São Nicolau) is a building extremely representative of the religious architecture of Porto from the late seventeenth century. The interior of the temple is quite simple, one-nave. It is worth paying attention to the gilded Rococo style retabulum by Frei Manuel de Jesus Monteiro. In turn, the sacristy is full of works of art and valuable jewelry. We find in it, among others a cup from the 16th century and a precious gilded silver goblet.
Initially, a small chapel from the 13th century stood in the place of the church. The church Nicholas was built in 1671. After a fire in 1758, the temple was reconstructed and rebuilt in the neoclassical and baroque style. The reconstruction project was designed by Frei Manuel de Jesus Maria. The facade of the church was covered with decorative tiles in 1861. On its top there is a pediment with a limestone image of the patron saint.
