The parish church of St. John the Baptist is a beautiful baroque temple. The modest, inconspicuous facade means that it does not attract many tourists. Meanwhile, in the interior you can admire the unusual, richly carved, gilded altars (the main and six side). It is also worth paying attention to the baptismal font and paintings, also from the Baroque period.
The church John the Baptist was built in the mid-seventeenth century. It is a building with large dimensions and very consistent architecture. The decorations were made under the direction of two eighteenth-century artists - Manuel da Rocha and Manuel da Costa Andrade.
The church has one nave, but has six side chapels, consisting of richly decorated altars. On the facade of the temple you can see a niche in which there is a figure of the patron - St. John the Baptist. In the side niches formerly images of St. Benedict and Saint. Scholastica.
