City Park in Porto is the largest city park in this city. The park is located at the western end of Avenida da Boavista. It covers an area of 83 hectares reaching as far as the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to this, you can enjoy the ocean view from the park and direct access to the public Praia Internacional beach is provided. The park was chosen in 2001 by the jury as one of the 100 most interesting works created in Portugal in the 20th century.
It was designed by landscape architect Sidónio Pardal. Its ceremonial opening took place in 1993. At that time, however, the first stage of the investment was put into use. The project was finalized in 2002. The park was created in a naturalistic style and is designed to imitate a rural atmosphere. Character gives it used in many places as a building material stone.
The park has a large open space for the organization of various types of mass events. Queima das Fitas, NOS Primavera Sound, Red Bull Air Race and ircuito da Boavista were organized there.
