The Bank Millennium BCP building is located in the oldest part of Lisbon, at Rua Augusta. During renovation works in the early 1990s, traces of Roman buildings were found under its cellars. They are currently available to tourists.
After the discovery, Bank Millenium set up a Foundation that took care of providing access to this place and disseminating knowledge about it. On the ground floor of the building there is a small museum, where ceramics, jewelry, everyday objects and architectural elements discovered during excavations are presented. A free tour of the exhibition is organized. The foundation also publishes popular science materials about excavations.
