The Macau Science and Culture Center is a museum and cultural and educational institution whose task is to familiarize the people of Europe with the culture of China and Macau. You can see a modernly organized multimedia exhibition depicting art, everyday life and civilization achievements of the Middle Kingdom.
The center was established because of the Portuguese presence in Southeast Asia. It is the only institution outside of China devoted entirely to the culture of this region. The museum shows the mutual influence that occurred at the interface of Portuguese and Chinese culture in Macau. You can see paintings, sculptures, handicrafts, decorative fabrics, silks, figurines from various materials, jewelry, ceramics and metal products. The Center also organizes workshops, meetings with artists, writers and scientists, conferences, concerts and performances.
