The Carris Museum shows the history of public transport in Lisbon. It is located in the area of the still active Santo Amaro tram depot. Various models of buses and trams used throughout the entire life cycle by public transport are presented here. There are also collections of tickets, uniforms of tram drivers, photos and documents.
The museum was founded in 1999 based on the collections of the Lisbon carrier, Carris. It is located in the depot building, in hangars for storing rolling stock and an administrative building. His collection includes documents and photos showing the history of the functioning of public transport in Lisbon. There are also uniforms of drivers, drivers and controllers, validators, tickets, elements of employee equipment and vehicle models.
The most important part of the collection are preserved original means of transport. You can see horse and electric trams, buses that have ridden in Carris colors during its history, and city elevator cars. All presented vehicles have been renovated. They are also painted in original colors. Almost all are still functional.
