One of the most elegant streets in Lisbon, which took its name from the Carmelite monastery currently in ruins. There are fashion boutiques, atmospheric cafes and confectioneries as well as bookstores. The most famous cafe is Brasileira, where the poet Fernando Pessoa was a frequent guest.
