Open-Air Museum of the Łemko Culture

Local name: Skansen Kultury Łemkowskiej

The museum presents monumental objects from the turn of the 20th century such as Lemko homestead including Lemko house, stable and sty, chapel, forge, and dayroom. Visitors can admire the original equipment of rooms and buildings such as furniture, costumes, weaving, cobbler, agricultural and smithing tools. The museum also collects militaria acquired during the first and second world wars and pieces of Lemko art.

The open-air museum was founded by Teodor Gorcz who was resettled from Zyndranowa in 1947 as part of Operation Vistula. He came back to his hometown a dozen years later and built the new house near the old one which belonged to his grandfather and was close to collapse. Gocz didn't want to let the homestead and Lemko culture be forgotten so he decided to found the museum.

The museum organizes workshops, plein air paintings and the annual traditional Lemko holidays.
