Údolie Smrti, or Death Valley, is an area where battles between armored units of the Red Army and Wehrmacht took place in the fall of 1944. The traces of the battle were visible in the area for many years after the war, which is why the Slovaks refer to the area of Svidnik and the Dukla Pass as the Death Valley.
An original installation was created to commemorate the fights in these areas. Driving the road from Barwinek towards Prešov you can see tanks located in various places. The area of approximately 20 km2 houses a number of exhibits, mainly T-34 tanks. The monument, which is the conventional beginning of the Death Valley, shows two tanks - a German one and a Soviet invading one.
This outdoor museum is complemented by a collection of military equipment taking part in the battle, located on the grounds of the Military Museum in Svidnik.
