Monument of Czechoslovak Armed Corps
Local name: Pamätník čs. armádneho zboru
Located in the Low Beskids, the Dukiel Pass is 500 m above sea level. It is recorded in history as the field of one of the most dramatic and bloody battles of World War II - the battle for the Dukiel Pass. You can see numerous related souvenirs collected mainly on the Slovak side, including outdoor exhibition of combat equipment and a monument in Vyšný Komárnik. There is also a lookout tower measuring 49 meters. A blue Carpathian trail connecting Rzeszów with Grybów and a marked path to Zyndranowa lead through the pass.
Trade and military routes have long led through this lowest pass in the main ridge of the Carpathians. During the two world wars fierce fighting took place here. Nowadays, war cemeteries, memorial sites and exhibits collected in museums testify to the turbulent past of this corner, and its calm is disturbed only by a busy highway.
The blue tourist trail leading this way is the second marked route in the area of Polish mountains. The mountain pass is also known for gusty fen winds called Dukla.
