Magura National Park

Local name: Magurski Park Narodowy

Magura National Park protects the Midwestern part of Low Beskids, which is a unique transition area between Eastern and Western Carpathians. Its symbol is lesser spotted eagle. Tourists can roam the picturesque valleys of the old villages or climb the mountain tops, like the highest mountain in the Park – Wątkowa ( 846 meters above sea level). In the Educational Center in Krempna it is worth seeing a multimedia performance and exposition in Museum of Nature.

The greatest wealth of the park established in 1995, are, typical for Low Beskids, wonderful forests, which act as a refuge for many endangered species of flora and fauna. A park area is crossed by the river Wisłoka, which presents scenic gorges. Recorded number of buzzards in the Park is one of the highest in Poland.

In the closest neighbourhood of the park stand beautiful wooden tserkovs, that were built by the former inhabitants of this land – Lemkos. It's also worth to pay attention to the antique cemeteries from the First World War, which are a remembrance of the stormy history.
