Museum of Household Equipment

Local name: Muzeum Sprzętu Gospodarstwa Domowego

The Household Equipment Museum in Ziębice is the only museum with such a specialty in Poland. Has extensive collections of devices used for centuries in the homes of various social groups. There is, among others, the largest collection of irons in Europe. The furniture owned by the Museum is exhibited as reconstructed bourgeois interiors.

The museum was founded in 1931, and in 1972 adopted its current specialization. Its activity is two-track - it is both a regional museum and the only one in the country collecting all household appliances from the past. In addition to the huge collection of irons, there are also refrigerators, washing machines, utility glass and dishes. The museum has a large collection of furniture from the period from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. They were displayed as completely furnished rooms - a baroque lounge, a Biedermeier and a bourgeois kitchen.

The regional collection of the Museum in Ziębice includes sacred and folk sculpture as well as military and hunting weapons. There is also an exhibition dedicated to the history of the city.
