Zgierz City Museum

Local name: Muzeum Miasta Zgierza

Zgierz City Museum presents the old and modern history of the city and county in the context of history, archeology, ethnography, art, and numismatics. Two permanent exhibitions are dedicated to Zgierz and townsmen interiors from the turn of the 20th century.

Among permanent exhibitions, there is also the collection of old toys - over a thousand dolls largely from the 20th century with costumes from various corners of the world. The second part of the museum consists of the reconstructions of townsmen interiors which belonged to the wealthy factory family of Małgorzata and Julian Krushe.

"Dom pod lwami" (Lion's House) is a building from the end of the 19th century which is also occupied by the National Library. It was built by Karol Miler in classicist style. Characteristic decorations of its avant-corpses impress with the stepped attic with depictions of lions.
