Pozeugustian Monastery complex in Żagań is one of the most valuable Silesian monuments and also a unique tourist attraction. The complex consists of baroque monastic buildings and a Gothic church with baroque elements. The interior of the temple is richly decorated with images of famous masters. Also worth mentioning is the unique monastery library.
The main feature that attracts visitors to this place of passionate architecture is the invariability of the team, perfectly preserved since its inception. Characteristic buildings dominate the city by admiring above all the greatness and number of architectural solutions. Conventual buildings existed here much earlier, but destroyed in fires and finally rebuilt their form only in the 18th century. From the original complex, some parts of the church have been preserved, hence its shape still has gothic features. The final reconstruction provided the baroque buildings with a baroque facade, as well as the baroque interior of the temple.
The Augustians managed the object until 1810, when the Order was secularized. Since then, for many years, monastic buildings have been serving secular purposes. It functioned in it. Elementary school, court and jail. The most famous collection of Żagań is located in the university library in Wroclaw today.
