Witold Gombrowicz Museum in Wsola is located in a classicist palace residence, the former house of the Polish writer's brother. It is here where Gombrowicz wrote some parts of his works such as the debut "Pamiętnik z okresu dojrzewania" and the famous novel "Ferdydurke".
The permanent exhibition "I, Gombrowicz" presents his biography and works. It consists of valuable souvenirs, family photographs, pieces of texts, and letters. Especially worthy of attention is the old, worn suitcase which Gombrowicz had with him when leaving Poland in martial law.The museum offers age-appropriate tours with a guide. It also organizes lessons on the subject of Polish literature and Gombrowicz himself in the separate room. There are also documentary multimedia screenings. What attracts visitors is not only the permanent exhibition but also numerous art and cultural events and meetings which take place here according to the writer's will. The International Gombrowicz Panel is organized here every year.Less
