The opera is located in the beautiful, monumental building. It's a place of great performing arts accompanied by the emotional music by Verdi, Strauss or Puccini. The standard repertoire consists of great classics. The only Festival of Contemporary Opera in Poland is organized here since 2008. The opera presents such performances as Hagith by Karol Szymanowski, Paradise Lost by Krzysztof Penderecki, and Mother of Black-winged Dreams by Hanna Kulenta.
The Wrocław's scene has been undergone overhaul for many years what resulted in numerous unusual performances which became its trademark. The events which made history were the outdoor performances Tosca, and Requiem by Verdi staged in St. Mary Magdalene Church, Giaconda staged on the Oder, or The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart staged in the National Museum. The most modern achievement is the international art project from 2016 - "Spanish night with Carmen – zarzuela show" taking place in Stadion Wrocław as a part of The European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016.Less
