Wroclaw Main Station is one of the few stations in Poland which has a partially glazed platform hall - a popular feature among many European stations. The attached to platforms building consists of the 200-meter train shed, ticket offices, and shopping arcade. The thorough renovation was carried out in 2012 before UEFA Euro 2012.
There are dramatic events related to the station. It's here where famous actor Zbigniew Cybulski was killed by a train in 1967. The plaque of remembrance of the actor can be found today on the platform III.The interiors of the station were often used as movie sets. In the past, a cinema and theatre operated in the halls. The Neo-Gothic building was designed by Wilhelm Grapow and opened in 1857. It was then considered one of the city's hallmarks what didn't change today. The station, which resembles a monumental palace, is an important mark on tourist maps.Less
