The Mineralogical Museum of the University of Wrocław is a unit of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the University of Wrocław. Its collection is located in the main building of the institute and in the branch on Kuźnicza Street. It's considered one of the oldest museums of that type in Poland. The museum has over 30 thousand display units including 170 meteorites and tektites, and over 350 gemstones.
Most of the halls of the branch is located in the medieval cellars consisting of glacial erratics which were used for its construction. The branch has nine permanent exhibitions. The most interesting are Minerals of Poland, Gemstones and Ornamental Stones, Meteorites, Agates of the Katzbach Mountains, and Gemstone Cuts. What is more, temporary exhibitions are frequently organized in the area. Other attractions are the classes given by the museum's staff.Less
