Wierzchowska Cave
Local name: Jaskinia Wierzchowska
The Wierzchowska Cave in the Kluczwoda Valley near Wierzchowie is the second largest in the Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska. Formed as a result of karst processes. On the illuminated tourist trail you can admire the rich stalactite garment and neolithic settlement sites.
The corridors of the Wierzchowska Cave are 975 meters long. An underground tourist route leads through their 700 meters. It is illuminated and it is visited with a guide. Walking in the twilight and a temperature not exceeding 8 degrees Celsius you can meet bats (horseshoes). On the walls and the vault there are elements of the travertine garment, such as stalactites and stalagmites and draperies. In the silt of the cave, remains of prehistoric animals and traces of human life were found.
