Ojców National Park includes the picturesque area of the Cracow-Częstochowa Upland surrounding the Prądnik Valley. Its characteristic features are rock inliers and outliers, Jurassic mountain flattenings, and also caves. Two of the caves - Łokietek Cave and Dark Cave - are available for sightseeing. The area of the park has a dense network of tourist tracks what helps to find the biggest attractions.
Ojców National Park was established in 1956 but rocks in the Prądnik Valley was under protection since the end of the 19th century. The territory of the park is crossed by the two big karst valleys - Prądnik and Sąspowska. Mountain flattenings and rocky hills tower over the valleys. The valleys have steep, often vertical slopes with streams at the bottom. The park also consists of several dozen springs.The most important attractions are rock inliers and outliers which can be admired from the tourist tracks. The most known are Cracow Gate and Deotyma Needle. Apart from that, about 700 caves are located in the area of the park. Only part of them is explored and two can be viewed with a park guide who can be found at the entrance to the cave.Less
