The castle in Pieskowa Skała rises on a hill in the Ojców National Park. It is one of the most popular castles of the Trail of the Eagles' Nests. One of the branches of the Wawel State Art Collection is located within its walls. The exhibitions mainly present wonderful paintings and the history of Pieskowa Skała. The museum activities conducted in the castle also include archaeological and natural exhibitions.
The stronghold in Pieskowa Skała was established to protect an important trade route from Silesia to Kraków, probably at the beginning of the 14th century. For hundreds of years of existence, it has undergone numerous damages and reconstructions. It was not restored until the 20th century and turned into a truly royal palace. The architecture of the castle can be described as a combination of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.
