Orthodox church of St. Michael the Archangel

Local name: Cerkiew św. Michała Archanioła

Wooden Orthodox church. St. Archangel Michael is one of 16 wooden churches of the Carpathian region from Poland and Ukraine, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is located on the Podkarpackie Wooden Architecture Trail. It is an example of a Lemko-type church, characterized by the triple division of the temple (women's gallery, nave, presbytery). A wooden free-standing belfry is also part of the church.

The first mention of the church comes from the first half of the 16th century. The current building was erected in the years 1801-1803. In the church you can admire, among others iconostasis from 1985 and polychromes from the turn of the 20th century

Originally an Orthodox church, after the removal of the Ukrainian population as part of the "Wisła" campaign, it served Latin Catholics in 1947-1961. From 1963, the temple was handed over to the Orthodox believers, who are its hosts until today. From 2009, the church in Turzańsk became the sole property of the Orthodox Church.
