"Carpathian Troy" Archaeological Open-Air Museum

Local name: Skansen Archeologiczny Karpacka Troja

The heritage park in Trzcinica is called the Carpathian Troy, due to the unique nature of the 4,000 years old stronghold discovered here. The heritage park offers a tour of the permanent exhibition, a visit to an archaeological park and a settlement, both of which can also be admired from the observation tower.

The archaeological park consists of reconstructed villages from the Bronze Age and early Middle Ages. The largest attraction of the heritage park is the fortified settlement - a heavily fortified defensive structure located on an area of over 3 hectares. It is protected by 10 meters high embankments raised here over 1000 year ago, also called the Royal Embankments.

The most valuable items of the 160,000 exhibits collected during the excavations in the stronghold can be seen at the permanent exhibition. Among them is a silver treasure, ie silver coins, jewelry and decorative sword sheath gathered in one place. The youngest visitors can use the multimedia room.

Every year in August the Carpathian Archaeological Festival "Dwa oblicza (Two faces)" takes place in the museum. Its program is filled with knights' battles, archery tournaments, fabric dyeing demonstrations, casting of bronze tools and reconstruction of battles.
