Open-air Museum of Steam Machines
Local name: Skansen Maszyn Parowych
The open-air museum is part of the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry. You can see several dozen exhibits here - mainly antique machines from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which used to be used for transport and facilitating work in the mine. One of the most important and largest exhibits is a huge steam engine from 1907. The whole was entered on the UNESCO list.
The open-air museum was established in 1976. Its most popular attraction is a unique railway, opened relatively recently, with a rail gauge of 184 mm (the so-called lilipucia railway). The open-air loop is about 0.5 km.
The open-air museum also hosts the annual Autumn Festival of Couples - a family picnic with an industrial heritage festival. You can then see how historic steam engines are put into operation.
