Historic Silver Mine

Local name: Zabytkowa Kopalnia Srebra

The Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry is located in the corridors of the former working mine. Since 2017 it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The historic mine is also one of the most interesting points on the route of the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Visiting the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry provides a unique opportunity to see the underground corridors of the now closed ore-bearing mine. Visitors of a closed mine come down to a corridor located up to 40 m underground, where they are acquainted with the equipment used by miners, mining techniques, and the construction of an unused deposit.

The Museum in the Historic Silver Mine is the only such place in Poland. It is possible to visit it since 1976. Exploring the underground excavation corridors that connect the pits "Angel", "Adder" and "God Bless", tourists learn about the geological structure of the surrounding rocks, about the ways of mining of precious ores, and about devices serving it. Their knowledge is complemented by specially prepared multimedia presentations.
