Pioneer Cinema - world's oldest movie theater

Local name: Kino Pionier - najstarsze kino świata

The Pionier Cinema (Pioneer Cinema) in Szczecin is one of the oldest continuously running cinemas in the world. The facility belongs to a network of independent cinemas.

In 2005, Pionier Cinema had been considered the oldest cinema in the world and received the certificate of Guinness World Records. Three years later, the decision was changed, because it turned out that there are older facilities of such type. Officially, the Szczecin cinema has been operating since 1909, however, there are documents that confirm that its activity had began already in 1907.

The shows are presented in two cinema halls. The first, called the Red Room, is larger and traditionally furnished. The second - Klub Kiniarnia (Cinema Club) - is decorated in a retro style. There are no traditional armchairs in it, and movies are watched at the tables. Next to it is a bar where spectators can order wine or hot drinks. The films in this room are screened from the old projector.
