Historic steam locomotive OL-49
Local name: Zabytkowy Parowóz OL-49
The historic OL-49 locomotive was manufactured at the Fablok First Locomotive Factory in Chrzanów. It comes from 1952, until 1993 was used in passenger and freight transport on various routes. In total, he traveled nearly three million kilometers. You can now admire it by the railway station building in Stare Juchach.
The OL-49 can develop a maximum speed of 100 km / h. It weighs 150 tons. He traveled on routes from Elk to Olsztyn, Białystok, Gołdap, Mikolajki and Suwalki.
The steam engine was powered by steam from a coal-fired boiler. The first steam locomotive was built by British engineer, inventor and inventor Richard Trevithick. His project was realized at the beginning of the 19th century.
In 1997, as a monument, the steam locomotive as a monument stood at the railroad buildings under the joint resolution of the Bialystok locomotive and the municipal office in Starach Juche. A general renovation was made.
