The Narrow Gauge Railway in Ełk is one of the few still functioning of this type in Poland and the only one in Warmia and Mazury. Neither the outbreak of World War II nor the change of nationality did not interrupt its activities. In 1992, it received the title of a monument due to its historical values and beauty, while since 2002, it has been running only tourist courses (modern and historic warehouses).
Historic rolling stock has been gathered on the tracks of the Ełk Wąskotorowy station, as well as in the historic hall of the engine house. The engine house with its facilities and the station building also deserve the attention of visitors. The train station itself is located near the main railway station of the city of Ełk. In addition, the building has a small museum dedicated to the history of the queue and a beekeeping museum.
Scheduled journeys on the Ełk Narrow Gauge Railway are carried out by Lyd 1 diesel locomotives. Its main task was to transport the inhabitants of nearby villages to Ełk, sometimes it also transported goods.
