Dam and Złotnickie Lake
Local name: Zapora i jezioro Złotnickie
Złotnickie Lake is a 126 ha barrier reservoir. It was built in the 1920s when the river Kwis was built almost 30 meters high. Today, on its bank, on sandy beaches, swimming pools, resorts, campsites, water equipment rental are set up. Anglers are happy to visit the lake.
The decision to build the dam was made after the tragic floods that plagued this area at the end of the 19th century. Its total height is 36 meters, of which 27.5 meters rise above the ground level. The authors of the dam project were: prof. Otto Intze and Curt Bachmann from Jelenia Gora.
On the Złotnickie Lake you can reach the yellow tourist route, going from Zawidowa through Leśna to Gryfów. From the crown of the dam stretches a beautiful view of the green valley of the river. Nearby is the ruins of Rajsko Castle with a high lookout tower, where you can admire the Golden Lake in all its splendor.
