Świętokrzyskie is a region that is very much connected with the development of the Polish industry. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, there was a so-called Star Industrial District. One of his most important buildings was the Huta Józef in Samsonowo. Today its ruins are an interesting monument of technology and the most important attraction of the village.
The beginning of the mill dates back to the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. There is a smithy belonging to Lukasz Samson, the coat of arms of Topor. By the order of Zygmunt III Vasa transformed into a steelworks which was built by Italian architects. It produced military action. Throughout the 18th century, the Samson plant was expanded by successive owners, the Bishops of Cracow. However, its greatest prosperity was at the beginning of the 19th century. It was then rebuilt under the direction of Stanisław Staszic, building a large furnace among others. Its ruins can be admired to this day. Huta Józef burned down completely in 1866 and since then has remained in ruins. It is one of the most important industrial monuments in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. It is located on the Świętokrzyski Monuments of Technology Trail.
