The museum is dedicated to the history of the city of Pyzdry and its surroundings. Inside, collections of archaeological ceramics, two treasures of silver coins dated to the eleventh and fifteenth centuries, as well as parchment royal documents and military items from the period of the January Uprising were presented.
The museum's seat is the historic buildings of a former Franciscan monastery. The complex of buildings is located on the high Narew embankment and dominates over the remaining urban buildings. The museum exhibitions are located in the former refectory, kitchen, basement and in the restored cloister, where you can admire the preserved late medieval and Baroque frescoes.
The city of Pyzdry itself is an extremely interesting and important place on the map of Poland. In the Middle Ages it was one of the largest towns in Greater Poland, playing an important political role. It was here that King Władysław Łokietek convened a congress of Polish clergy and dignitaries in 1318. Casimir the Great also visited the city, as a result of which the Teutonic Knights burned them down, but the ruler rebuilt the old buildings.
