The Piast stronghold in Giecz was one of the major centers of state power. He played important political, military or economic roles many times. Currently, an archaeological reserve has been created in its place. The castle from the 10th century was reconstructed and exhibitions about the object's history were created.
The facility has semi-dungeons and above-ground huts that perform residential functions, as well as representing various types of workshops - pottery, weaving. Everything was surrounded by a wooden palisade.
In addition, there is a museum building within the castle. Inside there is a permanent exhibition devoted to the "Everyday life of the inhabitants of Giecz in the early Middle Ages" and temporary exhibitions are organized to present the latest results of archaeological research conducted in the village. In addition, rooms were created in the building for interactive museum lessons.
