Alexandrian Yellow House
Local name: Domek Żółty Aleksandryjski
The Yellow House, also known as Alexandria, is located near the Czartoryski Palace in Puławy, within the park. It is a small residential building with a porch decorated with a Doric columnar portico. After a recent renovation, the building regained its splendor and is open to the public.
The Yellow House was built at the beginning of the 19th century during the construction of the entire palace and park complex. It was intended by the Czartoryski family as an apartment for Tsar Alexander I during his anticipated visits to Puławy. The tsar visited this place once, but spent the night in the palace. However, the term Alexandria House stuck to the yellow painted building.
It is a rectangular building covered with a hip roof. In front of the entrance there is a portico with four Doric columns. The walls are decorated with rustication. Inside, you can see stone decorations and frescoes discovered around and renovated during renovations, surrounding windows and doors. They depict laurel wreaths. On one wall was also painted a stone wall overgrown with vines.
