Carmelite Church of St. Theresa

Local name: Kościół Karmelitów św. Teresy

The Carmelite Church of St. Theresa towers over the Old City of Przemyśl. Its interior consists of many valuable objects such as the Baroque pulpit, side altars, and black marble portals. Worthy of attention are also fresco remains.

The original pulpit, situated in the center of the church, resembles St. Peter's boat. It is decorated with figures of apostles - Peter and Paul. There are also Rococo side altars, vaults with stucco decorations, and the monumental, 18th-century confessional in the sacristy. Remainings of frescos on the walls were painted over by Greek-Catholics to whom the church belonged at the end of the 18th century.

The church was built in the first half of the 17th century in late-Renaissance style. In 1784, it was liquidated and given to Greek-Catholics who made several changes such as adding Bizantine features. In the 20th century, it was given back to Carmelites.
