"Maltanka" Park Railway

Local name: Kolejka Parkowa ,,Maltanka”

Along the northern bank of Malta Lake there is a route of a park railway "Maltanka". It is one of the last narrow-gauge railways in the country with a width of the track measuring 60 centimeters. Rolling stock is mostly historic, biggest part of it consists of diesel locomotives made during years 1956-64. In selected weekends, the railway is pulled by a historic steam locomotive Borsig dating from 1925, also called "Agusia", which is the only one narrow-gauge steam locomotive with two whistles.

Narrow-gauge trail is 3,8 kilometers long and, as the only one in Poland, has got automatically controlled crossovers and light semaphores. Park Railway was established in 1956, but only in 1972 it was moved to the current area. The route runs from the starting station "Maltanka", through stops "Ptyś" and "Balbinka" to the final station "Zwierzyniec". Nearby, there is an entrance to the new ZOO.
