Piwniczna-Zdrój Regional Museum

Local name: Muzeum Regionalne Towarzystwa Miłośników Piwnicznej

The Regional Museum of the Piwniczna Lovers Society is a small institution that collects collections about the history of Piwniczna and the local material culture. In its collection there is a large collection of old ski equipment, models of craft workshops and farms from the spa area, as well as royal documents from the period of the city's creation and the local customs chamber.

Piwniczna-Zdrój is known today primarily as a health resort. However, in the Middle Ages it played an important role as a customs house. It is from these times that the oldest documents presented in the museum come from. There are royal privileges, city seals and monuments discovered during excavations. The large exhibition is devoted to the activities of partisan units during World War II, and in particular the characters of Home Army Major Julian Zubek, nickname Tatar.

An interesting part of the collection are items related to the folk culture of highlanders living around Piwniczna. There are everyday appliances, furniture, and folk costumes. The exhibition is complemented by documents and items related to the activities of the Poprad Valley folk group and the local fire brigade.
