The Mazurian Museum in Owczarnia near Kętrzyn is located in the building foursome, which once belonged to the Owczarnia estate, which lies on the unusually charming valley of the Gruber river. Undoubtedly, the most interesting of nearly a thousand exhibits in the collection is the preserved black kitchen, in which housewives cooked on an open fire.
The Museum in Owczarnia is a house equipped with furniture, dishes, textiles, paintings, as well as household appliances and agricultural machinery. The collected exhibits are presented in 11 rooms of the building from the mid-nineteenth century. Visitors can also see hypothetical hypothetical books of the city of Reszel dating from the nineteenth century, written with a quill pen. In the summer season, guests can try typical Masurian cuisine in the museum's cafe.
In addition to numerous exhibits, the hosts, who are also guides to the museum, collected a substantial collection of books devoted to the subject of former East Prussia and the Masurian region. The name of the village comes from the island where sheep were bred in the past. Currently, the lake no longer exists.
