Lysa Góra, also called the Holy Cross, is one of the most popular tourist places in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Although not the highest peak, it is certainly the most recognizable. Easily accessible trails from Nowa Słupia and Huck Passes have in addition to beautiful views many attractions for tourists. These include Central Europe's largest pigeonhole, the Museum of the Świętokrzyski National Park and the monastery where the relics of the Holy Cross are kept.
The name Łysa Góra is derived from folk tradition. It refers to the non-forested, rock-covered rock of the summit nature. He was considered to be the seat of evil power and the place of witches' Sabbath. At the top, traces of pagan places of worship were discovered. In their place, probably already in the beginning of the eleventh century Benedictine monastery stood. Since the fourteenth century, relics of the Holy Cross are kept here, which makes Świętokrzyski monastery one of the most important places of worship in Poland.
