Medieval Settlement
Local name: Osada Średniowieczna
There is a place in the Holy Cross Mountains where you can move back in time. It is a medieval settlement in Huta Szklana, at the foot of the Holy Cross. This is an extraordinary place where Świst, Poświat and Pogoda reign, where you can play the role of a medieval craftsman and get to know the lives of people from a thousand years ago.
The Medieval settlement was opened in 2011. It is a reconstruction of buildings from the turn of the 11th and 12th century. The village was conceived as a theme park in which visitors can not only see what the life of former inhabitants of these lands looked like, but also take part in workshops or try their hand at various activities.
The settlement is divided into three zones. The first is made up of craftsmen's huts, in which old professions and workshops are presented. The second is the sacred zone with the sacred grove, figures of ancient deities and the herbalist's hut. And finally, the third part is the catering and social facilities as well as the playground. The settlement in Huta Szklana is a place that lives all the time. Craftsmen are waiting for tourists in every workshop, who willingly show the secrets of their profession. Guides in period costumes show around the village.
