The powerful Teutonic stronghold is today the seat of the historical exhibition "From the history of the Nidzica Region". The exhibits relate to the history of Prussia, the city and the castle, as well as the armament of knights and peasant infantry from the Battle of Grunwald. An interesting attraction are also photos of Nidzica (then Neidenburg) before World War I and II.
At the castle exhibition you can also see the furnishings of Masurian cottages, as well as graphics and paintings of one of the most outstanding artists of Warmia and Mazury - Hieronim Skorupski. Visiting the castle is worth finishing in the former Teutonic granary with a delightful old wooden glazing and guard porches. The castle was built at the end of the 14th century by the Grand Master Winrych von Kniprode and was one of the most important points of the Teutonic defense system of that time. The Teutonic fortress was rebuilt twice due to the destruction of French soldiers and Napoleonians at the beginning of the 18th century and the bombing of 1945.Less
